About

“Who looks outside dreams, who looks inside awakens.”

– Carl Jung

Dr. Hostetter graduated from Emory University, Phi Beta Kappa, with a Magna Cum Laude degree in psychology. After graduation, she worked in the Emory Women’s Mental Health Program laboratory investigating placental passage and breast milk excretion of psychiatric medications. She has authored several peer reviewed publications, book chapters and presentations relevant to women’s mental health. She attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco which is ranked as one of the top five medical schools in the nation. She returned to Emory for her residency in psychiatry and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

In addition to women’s mental health, Dr. Hostetter has a strong interest in integrative psychiatry, or the use of both conventional and complementary medicine in a holistic approach to patient care. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. She has participated in extensive training in cognitively based compassion meditation through the Emory-Tibet Partnership and has a special interest in cognitive behavioral therapy for healthy eating and weight management. In her practice, she provides personalized treatments which may include both therapy and medication management. Nutrition, exercise, stress management and mind-body centering practices are considered for each individual as well.

Dr. Hostetter’s “assistant”, Linus, is a 9 year old vizsla, also known as a Hungarian pointer, who often accompanies her to work. He loves to greet clients, provide emotional support and then settle down for a nap during the session. Rest assured, he is HIPAA trained and keeps everything he hears confidential. Outside of work, Linus enjoys long walks, pointing at birds, swimming, boating, and spending time with his family.
